Jennifer Deyton, Senior Partner
Jennifer Deyton has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Utah and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree from Duke University. Before accepting a position with Arthritis & Rheumatism (A&R) at Duke University, she worked in the Public Affairs Department for the North Carolina Medical Board. After working for A&R for five years, she joined forces with Julie Nash to develop and improve upon the role of the Managing Editor. From there, her career in publishing flourished into a successful and innovative company. She also serves as a Board Member for the International Society for Managing and Technical Editors and is very committed to peer review management. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and traveling.

Julie Nash, Senior Partner
Julie Nash has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree from Duke University. She was an award-winning journalist in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and North Carolina before becoming an assistant editor with Arthritis & Rheumatism (A&R) in May 2000. After working on A&R and other titles for several years, she founded J&J Editorial with partner Jennifer Deyton. Julie is involved with the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE) and is dedicated to professionalizing the job of managing editor. When not working, Julie enjoys traveling, eating at interesting restaurants, listening to music, reading and spending time with her husband and two children.

Meghann Knowles, Managing Editor
Meghann joined J&J Editorial in January 2009. Prior to joining the J&J Editorial team, she worked as a Medical Editor for NBC Universal. Meghann has over seven years of publishing industry experience, the majority of which has focused on medical content. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing and Media from Loyola College in Maryland. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, gardening, taking her dog to the park and playing golf with her husband.

Alex Slater, Managing Editor
A North Carolina native, Alex graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill earning a degree in English with a Minor in Chemistry. In his senior year, Alex helped launch the second edition of a new undergraduate publication at UNC, Carolina Scientific. As a Staff writer and Production Staff member he contributed an article covering new research at UNC's Center for Genomics and Society. Shortly after graduation, Alex was glad to discover a new opportunity in scholarly scientific publishing by joining the team at J&J.

Christine Dymek, Managing Editor
With nearly 20 years experience in the disciplines of science, medicine and technology, Christine brings to her position as Managing Editor a diverse background in editorial, publishing, and public relations. A graduate of Penn State, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and launched an exciting career in public relations at the Philadelphia health care communications agency Dorland Global (now Tonic). After several years in PR management, Christine segued into product marketing for one of the world's largest software manufacturers. She eventually returned to her passion of free-lance writing and copyediting for various specialty and consumer publications before finding a home at J&J Editorial. Christine is a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) and the International Society of Managing and Technical Editors (ISMTE), where she recently accepted the role of marketing chairperson. Her favorite times are spent enjoying her husband and two children, typically alongside a little league field, swimming pool or backyard barbecue.

Brittany White, Managing Editor
Brittany graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 with degrees in Anthropology and Linguistics, after which she spent the summer in New York City studying the publishing industry. Prior to joining the J&J team in 2010, her publishing experience included serving in editorial positions at a regional NC lifestyle magazine and a regional, multi-state business media company. Her free time is dedicated to cycling, traveling with friends and family, freelance writing and tending to her fish tank of African cichlids.

Camille Fisher, Editorial Assistant
Camille graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology in 2008. She previously worked as a marketing intern with the online reference publisher Xrefer as it re-branded and transitioned into its current identity as Credo Reference. She also performed freelance editing and data management for Publisher's Communication Group. Both companies are based in Boston, outside of which Camille grew up. While she misses her historic hometown of Watertown, she is enjoying the North Carolina climate and can be caught basking in the sun with her English Bulldog puppy, Chloe.

Corrie Williams, Editorial Assistant
After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and Master of Science degree in Biology from Appalachian State University, Corrie started teaching the sciences in the North Carolina public schools and at Appalachian State University. After teaching for 8 years, she shifted gears to publishing and started work for J&J Editorial. She currently focuses on editorial work for the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Susan Uppena, Data Manager
Susan resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband and three daughters. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and has a background in technical sales and client services. Susan's primary interest is in quality assurance, as well as maintaining and improving client relations. She has enjoyed working with J&J Editorial and developing relationships with the American Chemical Society and the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Linda Cozzens, Editorial Assistant
Linda Cozzens has more than 10 years of progressive experience as a Senior Executive Administrative Assistant. She works for J&J Editorial as a Data Specialist. Linda has a second career as a Reserve Officer with the Durham Police Department. She lives in Holly Springs, North Carolina with her husband of 13 years and her son, Kyle.

Natalia Figueroa, Editorial Assistant
Natalia was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puerto Rico in 2001. In 2002, she moved to Arlington, Virginia to work for the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). While employed at the USPTO, she attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and received a Master of Science degree in 2006. Later that year, she moved to Holly Springs, North Carolina with her husband where she works for J&J Editorial. She currently works on publications for the British Medical Journal Group.

Rochelle Carson, Editorial Assistant
Rochelle was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She relocated to Virginia with her husband while he was serving in the Marine Corps. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She and her husband relocated to Garner, North Carolina a few years later and have managed to move their parents to NC from El Paso as well. Rochelle is a proud mother of two daughters and is currently back in college pursuing a graduate degree. She has always had a love for writing as well as science, so she is enjoying being a new team member at J&J Editorial performing services for the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

Heather Demke, Editorial Assistant
While working on her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah, Heather began working in 2001 as an Editorial Assistant for the Journal of the American Chemical Society. After graduating in 2002, she started working as the Editorial Assistant for the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Organic Chemistry. After a few years with JOC and JACS, she started working for J&J Editorial in 2009. She currently focuses on editorial work for the Journal of the American Chemical Society. In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors with her husband and two sweet little boys.

Tom Colihan, Editorial Assistant
After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology from York College of Pennsylvania in 2002, Tom moved to Blacksburg, Virginia where he lived for three years while studying city planning and martial arts. In 2007 he moved from the mountains of Southwest Virginia to Washington D.C. and started on the publishing path as an Editorial Coordinator for the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). After three years of living in the Atlas District and learning the nuances of peer review management from the good folks at PNAS, he decided to make the move down to Carrboro, N.C. and embark on a new learning experience with J&J Editorial. When not at work, Tom can be found hiking, reading, and traveling.

Sarah Szatkowski, Editorial Assistant
Sarah has a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and English from the College of William and Mary. She currently works on publications for the BMJ Group and the American Chemical Society. Prior to joining J&J Editorial, she worked for the University of North Carolina. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys playing and coaching soccer.

Stacey Lutkoski, Editorial Assistant
Stacey comes to J&J with a background in academia. She earned an MA in history at the University of Southern California in 2009, and an MPhil in historical studies from the University of Cambridge in 2005. Before that, Stacey worked at a variety of historical societies, museums, and libraries. She also has previous publishing experience at Sybex Inc. In her spare time, Stacey loves to travel, cook, and do crafts.

Madeleine Clark, Editorial Assistant
Madeleine graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in English and a Minor in Business Administration. Her interest in editing spans the publishing industry from scholarly to trade fiction as she also holds a position as an Editorial Assistant at Algonquin Books. Outside of editing she enjoys waterskiing, foreign films, and scrapbooking.
